on this page i have taken the time to create what you could consider a "dummies guide" to certain techniques and skills I find as a neccesity to any serious speedballer. these are all souly based on what i have learned and discovered as undoubtably the most important skills that any certain player could idolize. not only do i practice them but, these same ideas and ways of playing have been extracted from world renowned players such as Ollie Lang and Chris Lasoya or even Matt Richard. So sit back and intake all this vital info i am about to dish out that will keep you alive in the game......
THE FRONT..... first off, i believe in discrimination, even if your biggest player, the one on the team who wears the tripple x jersey, complains he wants to play front for the love of god, put him the back. Do you really want to be standing on edge before the break wondering if your new appointed front man who wreaks of the Mcdonalds dollar menu is going to fit into that tight 40 or let alone even making it before his heart collaspes? NO, fit the role. your front(s) should be the smallest fastest player(s) on the team. you are going to find yourself in some tight bunkers where coverage is more then meager. He should also be an awesome gunfighter(further explained gunfighting skills further down) pick the player who can "hit and run" as well (again, explained with gunfighting skills) all in all your front should be the guy or gal on the team capable of playing from the farsides forty dependably and flawlessly...
GUNFIGHTING... being five yards away and hammering away at an oppenent can prove much harder then plinking away players accross the field, this is why you as a front man should more then exeed at the handling and usage of your marker. First off be ABLE TO SHOOT LEFT HANDED!!!! seeing players shooting out the left side of their bunker right handed is by far the stupidest mistake i see today. You should be more then capable of accuratly shooting your marker with your left hand. your going to need this skill when it comes time to face off with an adjacent player protruding and snapping from the right side of his bunker. you will need to be able to cross up with him and wail from the left side of your cover while using your left hand.  using your right will cause unbalanced stance with the force of you having to lean out further to displace your marker, this will also lead to an akward firing rate when you are struggling to keep up, the last thing you want is the other player to discovere your streams of paint are more like random squirts of unaccurate "freeballing", this will enable him to position himself in a way that he can learn the timing of your shots and totally lay you to waiste when you lay off the trigger.....or just fall out of your bunker when your leg falls asleep!
Next, stay tight. No more loose legs or free hanging elbows, i hate to say it but that is a paintball gun in your hand not an Ak-47, keep those damn elbows in!!!! elbow hits are of the most common and you see it as players become either A: cocky and decide to lean out further, or B: tired and slack on proper stance. A good way to remember to stay tight is to keep your elbows either against your torso or extremely close (im taking centimeters.) no matter how uncomfortable it seems, i promise you will get accostumed to it, and it will pay off when it comes game time. For those legs, remember on your leans (espicially from a standing position) to use more of your waiste then legs. you dont want to over do it and let a leg wander outside of cover, becuase i gaurentee another player will send you a few balls aimed at your knee caps! so keep in mind that extending motions should be kept at the waiste, not the legs.
finally "Hit and Run". this is a technique that you are seeing more and more and one that my team vigoursaly practice. this is the art of running and shooting. believe it or not this skill is one of the most important, because this sport is no longer a sit and waite around kind of game. to be a precise shooter while moving quickly is important for more then one reason. the first is the ability to get from one cover to another, moving up field wtih a pinned downed back will require you to support yourself. you will need to identify your designated area and react to your front surroundings and pick your most benificial target. then you must be able advance quickly to your next bunker while keeping a steady and accurate stream of paint at your appointed target. this will keep him down while you reach your next position on the field. another reason for this skill is the abitity to control a lane on a push. if your team decides to psuh upfield the rest of your players will depend on your capabilty to succesfully complete this movement while controlling your lane. if you are unable to move up and shoot controllably you will get lit up without a doubt and this can cause your lane to crash, allowing opponent advancement up field. NOT GOOD!!

The back......., those who shoot the most paint the most. "spray and pray", i for one see nothing wrong in "spraying and praying" in a modern day playing enviroment were a gun can shoot 20bps+ i find no problem in raining that entire pod pack. what are those pods for anyways?, besides next game they will be too old, mind as well shoot them at someone.... that should be the mentality of any back player.
fire power is god in this game. and having a back man who can produce 20 something balls a second is called a godsend from your view and a living hell from your opponents! i can promise nothing is more menacing or let alone frustrating when you are unable to even snapshoot through a whole game because of the fact that your bunker wont stop dancing to the relentless amount of paint smashing into it, and you know no matter how quick you snap out your destined to catch atleast ten to the gogs!
i cant stress enough to have a back player with a fast gun, he needs a hell of a fast marker with a hell of a fast hopper and a hell of a huge tank. no more mech cockers, sorry boys and girls its the age of electros (hard for me to say because my favorite and preferable gun is my mech Kapp)
Then make sure he can produce his lane control with ease, i like to have all my backs fast, they need to be able to move and pop form each side of the bunker with ease, lanes can change up as fast as you can blink as we all know. so you must have backman who can change up his angles as quick if not quicker then the fronts or mids. He must be able to move his gun from right to left like second nature and then be able to shoot left or right handed like it was instinct.
Finally have a loud mouth, make sure your back is constantly talking, (this ability is as well important to all other players as well, communicate!!) as a back you should never have your mouth shut, this means get used to welted jaws if you wear a proteus! but communication is a key factor, the back sees the field better then any one else, you must be the eyes of your team, and then get used to sharing what ever you see, even if your repeating yourself, trust me its more then comforting to hear whats going on when you are a front or mid pinned down and getting drilled from every angle!
The mid..... next in line as the eyes of the team in the mid. he is the player who is the fill in man, he should be able to take the place of any player if need be. the midman must be able to not only utalize his cover but as well learn how to keep his eye on the game at all times. his gun should be at rest only 90 percent of the time, shoot and talk, shoot and talk. If the event comes that a front is shot out you need to fill his hole or take over his lane. this means either find a quick way up the field to his position or find away to move into his lane and take back the control. if you loose a back, get your ass ready to either take his old bunker or switch to his lane were you will be needing to shoot three times as much paint as you were! so carry extra pods!
